"Spirea" reworked
Reworked paintingI spent a little time reworking "Spirea". I think the painting now looks much more finished. Sometimes you just have to give a painting a little time and then go back and attack....This was done in 08 so I gave it plenty of time......but I was never happy with it.....Or, sometimes you just have to start over.....But one thing you don't want to do is leave a canvas floating around the studio that no wants to buy and you're not excited about. Work it over, Start from scratch, Or, toss it in the Frisbee pile.

This painting has been floating around my workspace and I have been picking away on it between other projects....Thought I had it done and took this pic but yesterday I added a ferry in the background so it still looks different than the photo. But I'm done now! I think...12x12 oil on canvas SOLD

"Christmas Eve"
It's been a little tough getting back to my blog posts this week. I have been painting every day so there is a lot of new work to post. I'm going to leave my rest series for a bit while I post the work that has been waiting in the wings.....This painting is a companion piece to "I Will Give You Rest". The combination of the cool moon light hitting the church and the warm light from within created an inviting atmosphere.6x8 oil on panel

"Call for Rest" oil urban landscape painting
I'm thinking of starting a new series of paintings based on resting places. My purpose would be to create a dialogue within the viewer about what it means to rest, either in a physical sense or a spiritual sense. I'm not going to narrow it down to much, just keep the idea in the back of my mind as I am composing paintings and see where the Spirit leads.I see this homeless guy every time I pass a certain parking lot up by Pike Place in Seattle. This day he was napping against the phone booth in the corner of the lot. I wonder how deep is his rest......
