Sometimes it pays off to be bold when scouting painting locations. On my way to Alla Spit during the Whidbey Island Plein Air Festival I noticed this scene thinking it would make a great painting but there was no place to pull off.  I went back the next day and the owner of the property was working in his driveway so I stopped and asked if I could paint.  I heard the whole history off this property and scored a great spot to do a painting!

I wasn't happy with the composition of this painting. I really loved the scene before me but stuck too ridgedly to what I was seeing and didnt capture the essence of the place. I was able to capture the local color so I can take my study and work it out in the studio. We will see what happens and of course, I will share it with you!  =]
