Laughing Crow Farm, oil lanscape

I was out on Bainbridge Island getting reference photos and ran across this little place called Laughing Crow Farm. It is a cool area of Bainbridge where the folks who own sections of what used to be strawberry farms refuse to sell out to the developers. Even though they could get millions for the land ,they choose to live the simple life of farming. I met Gerald who owns the Bainbridge vineyards and winery who was nice enough to let this weird artist guy walk his fields , and Akio, still working in his eighties, who farmed strawberries on this land before the Japanese concentration camps in the U.S. Read "Snow Falling on Cedars" and you can get an idea of what it was like for the Japanese living in America before and after world war two. ( My apologies if I spelled names wrong)

Moonlight Snow, revisited. watercolor landscape

I'm revisiting this painting on my blog for three reasons

  1. I like it alot, I think it is more impressive in person , you can see the snow coming down alot better.
  2. My camera got stolen at Central Market when I ran in to get some cucumber rolls for breakfast at the sushi stand. I can't download my new paintings.
  3. This painting is available now in a giclee reproduction for $70.00 including shipping. The image measures 10x18 in. original SOLD

Pacific Ave / oil painting

Well I spent two days working on this one. I took the photo while I was driving and it was really bad, so I did the painting by gut feeling mostly. Some people talk on thier cell phones while driving, some paint thier nails or work on the computer, or shave. I take pictures with the old dig. camera.
Hope I keep working on this one . I think it's salvageable. SOLD

This alley is so steep that the pavement is rutted where rear bumbers have been scraping it.
The shadows on the white building drew my attention to this scene. SOLD

Alley House

I'm going to start a series of paintings inspired by Bremerton alley houses. I work alot in the back alleys of side streets in Bremerton WA. Always lots of interesting structures and people, with the shipyard close by and Bremerton going through this retro renaissance. Young familys are fixing up the old craftsman style houses. The waterfront is being renovated and the arts district is expanding.

King Street Station

I'm posting a work in progress, since I spent most of the weekend framing for two shows coming up in February. This is a view from inside the train station in Seattle. Its a different subject for me and I have found this painting very challenging. I have it set aside and work on it between other paintings.

Farm off Pugh Road

I'm starting to really like these winter scenes in oil. This is one you see out of the corner of your eye driving down the road. Brakes screech, dirt flies and your jumping out of your truck to capture the light and the moment in time. Sometimes your late for work. Sometimes you barely miss getting hit by another car. Sometimes your batteries are dead in your camera.... and sometimes.... you get a painting. Sold

Coffee Pot with Apple, reworked , oil

I reworked this painting, changed the background and added some chroma to the apple which kinda throws off the color in the reflection but I think I'm done with it. This painting will be in the Treehouse show in February. For those of you who can come, it will be at the Treehouse Cafe in Lynnwood center on Bainbridge island for the whole month of February 07. Its a great place to have lunch or coffee. SOLD
