"The Brothers" Olympic Mountain oil painting by Robin Weiss

"The Brothers"  14x18 oil on linen      Sold
We live on the Kitsap Peninsula. Across the Hood Canal and on the next peninsula over, the Olympic Peninsula, is the Olympic Mountain range which the Brothers are a part. When you get on a high area around Poulsbo on a clear day this is the view that you may see!  We had an amazing snow-pack in the mountains this year which will cool us off this summer!

This  painting is included in the Brace Point Pottery show in West Seattle and will be up for a few more weeks.  Send me a message if you would like more info on the show or any of the paintings you see on my blog...  =]

"Dubois Sunbathers" 14th Annual Plein Air Festival, Lighthouse Art Center, oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Dubois Sunbathers"    9x12 oil         Sold

I was working very hard to render the figures into this painting of Dubois Beach in Jupiter, Florida! We were working on location during the 14th Annual Plein Air Festival and enjoying every minuet of the warm temps and sandy beaches. Must have done okay with it because the young elementary teacher in the foreground finally got up and came over to see what I was painting and bought the piece right off the easel! She said I made her look 20 pounds lighter....=]

It's nice when you have subjects that will stay in position for awhile. I love that about southern beaches. Here in the Northwest people move around a lot just to stay warm! I found that the Quin Sienna paint I brought along was perfect for suntanned flesh tones.

"Tall Palms" 4th Annual Plein Air Festival, Lighthouse Art Center, oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Tall Palms" 20x10 oil  SOLD

I discovered Dubois Beach late in the festival and loved it! Came back early the next morning and finished two paintings. The first one was an odd size for me and I had to figure out how to tie it to my easel with whatever was in my pack. Fortunately I keep a variety of clamps and small bungies in case of emergencies.

I brought the painting to the Lighthouse Art Center Gallery and dropped it off.  Came back later in the day and was joyfully surprised that it had already sold! One of the "Green Hat" girls who attend the show loved it.

Thanks Sue!... and thanks to all the hard working volunteers who helped make the 4th Annual Plein Air Festival a huge success!
