"Harrison Street" Fall landscape, oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Harrison Street"  11x14 oil    $900

There is a little street that runs alongside Liberty Bay Presbyterian Church  between Highway 305 and 6th street in Poulsbo...I watch for the fall colors to turn every year and transform this scene. This year I took the time to do a little plein air painting (below) and then used that to inform this larger studio work (above). Right now it is hanging at the Treehouse Cafe on Bainbridge Island where I show work every Jan/Feb. Stop by for lunch and check it out!

"Seabeck Landscape" plein air landscape by Robin Weiss

"Seabeck Landscape"  9x14 oil on panel, plein air    Sold

We had a long extended and beautiful fall last year and I got out to do some painting. I had not been to Seabeck for awhile and headed out to find a hike a friend told me about out at the end of Stavis Bay Rd.

When I got to the place where the road crosses Big Beef creek this scene stopped me. I pulled over and set up my easel of course!  The rest of the trip produced some spectacular scenes and a few good paintings as well.....we'll get to that later...  =]  BTW,  Thanks for following along on the blog!!

"Mount Baker Unveiled"   10x12 oil on panel  plein air     $700
Available through the Cole Gallery, Edmonds Washington

I know it's 2018 but I'm still catching up to painting trips from 2017!  Sheesh!  I never get tired of this view of Mount Baker from Artists Point and have paintied it a few times before.  This one comes from our trip up with the Plein Air Washington Artists in the fall of 2017 . See a version painted in 2015  HERE

Picking blueberries

The mountain blueberries were juicy and ripe. They always distract me from painting! In this picture you can see the almost glowing red color and that is the low lying blueberry bushes. The color in the fall is a great addition to any painting composition as well!!

Maury painting at Mt Baker

My son Maury came along with me on this trip.....His full time job is game design but he's a good painter too!

"Hedges Family Estate" original, vineyard, oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Hedges Family Estate" 16x20 oil on canvas   $1200

This was the companion piece to Blue Valley in the Valleys to Vinyards show I talked about in my last post. The work was inspired by our trip to Walla Walla in the eastern part of Washington State and the plein air paintings done on location there. Walla Walla and the regions around it are starting to be well known for their fine wines.

While I had a great time painting with the PAWA artists my wife , Ann
enjoyed sampling the wine!

"Hedges Vinyard" plein air study  9x12 oil on panel   $600

The plein air study that inspired the studio work won Honorable Mention from juror, Tim Diebler.

One of the nice things about plein air painting is the wonderful memories that come back to you when viewing the work . I'll always remember the warm summer days we spent in WallaWalla!

"Blue Valley" original, landscape, oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Blue Valley"  16x20 oil on canvas     $1200

I try and go along on as many Plein Air Washington Artist painting trips as the schedule allows ....and try never to miss going up to Mt Baker!  "Blue Valley" is a studio painting inspired by our trip in 2017. It was accepted into Valleys to Vinyards which was PAWA's  year end show at The American Art Co.

"Valley View"9x12 plein air  $600

Here is the plein air study done on location at Artists Point that I used as reference for the studio work.

I realized looking over my blog that there are whole trips I have not posted from 2017 and it is the new year already!!  I try to keep up but .....

Me and son Maury painting at Artists Point , Mt Baker

Poulsbo Morning" original oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Poulsbo Morning"   20x20 oil on canvas   Sold
Prints available

It's a new year and I'm really excited about all the adventures ahead! ....But for the next few months I will be spending time in the studio working on commissions and upcoming shows.

I went down to the marina in my home town of Poulsbo on one of the rare sunny days this time of year to get out of the studio for awhile and paint in fresh air.  The plein air painting I did was terrible....I won't even post it!  ...But I did get some good photos and was able to use my reference to finish this studio painting.

If you are interested in prints of this painting , email me at  robinweiss@earthlink.net.
