"Port Gamnle Chestnut" plein air landscape painting by Robin Weiss

"Port Gamble Chestnut"  11x14 oil on panel  SOLD

It has taken awhile to get here but the fall color is coming out in the Pacific Northwest. It doesn't compare to parts of the east coast but we take what we can get. When the sun comes out you better get out and paint because it won't be long until the rains wash it all away! Ha!

I have been out painting and you can see a lot of my recent paintings at Arts in the Woods coming up right around the corner! There will also be a lot of special studio prices on panels and older work along with my annual calendars and cards. This year we have added hand made Christmas ornaments with some of my bird painting images on them.  If you are in the area stop by the Knowles Studio and say hi!  If you live outside Washington email me for info on special studio prices exclusively during Arts in the Woods Studio Tour.

"Shuksan Shadows" plein air painting by Robin Weiss

"Shuksan Shadows"  11x14 oil on panel   $800

This is a very familiar view for artists and hikers who take the Mount Baker ski road up to Artists Point every summer. I've posted about this location many times before and you can link to one HERE. This summer I made it up one time and had a great day painting with Ned Mueller and his wife Karen. Both great artists! The above painting of Mount Shuksan I brought back to the studio for a little touch up. The other one I did sailed off the cliff into the abyss of unredeemable paintings....you know what I mean..=]

Hope you are able to get out and paint the beautiful fall color!!  This painting will, be available at Arts in the Woods coming up November 10th, 11th and 12th!  Hope to see you there!!

"Madrone Shadows" plein air, landscape painting by Robin Weiss

"Madrone Shadows" 6x12 oil on panel  Sold

They didn't have Madrone trees back east in Ohio where I was born. After a search I found out that south of the mountains in California they are called Madrones and north of those mountains Madronas,, either way they are striking trees with beautiful reddish bark. They grow often along the bluffs and cliffs of the Puget Sound.  Out looking for good painting spots I found the shadows cast along the beach by the Madronas in this scene intriguing enough to plant my easel and paint awhile....=]  Hope you find a good spot too!  =]   Speaking of a good spot....There are still spots open for my Masterclass workshop on introduction to plein air at the Bloedel Reserve this Saturday!  Register HERE .  Hope to see you there!!

"December Snow" original oil painting by Robin Weiss

"December Snow"  11x14 oil on panel     SOLD

This painting sold shortly after I posted it on Facebook.  A lot of people like my snow scenes the best. Probably because I love painting snow!  It's just fun pushing the paint into abstract forms and then pulling out the realism. The tricky part, of course is intuiting when to stop..  Have fun with that!!  =]

"Cruising Front Street" original oil painting by Robin Weiss

"Cruising Front Street"  18x14 oil on panel SOLD

If you sit outside the Poulsbohemian coffee shop in Poulsbo you will see this view.  I have painted it a few times before. There was a little wildfire smoke left in the air. Mid-afternoon allows the shadow shapes to move across the street and add some depth to the design.

You can view this painting and many more at Arts in the Woods.  Our local studio tour is coming up in November! Check out the website for open studios and participating artists HERE.

"A Good Spot" plein air landscape painting by Robin Weiss

"A Good Spot" 6x12 oil on panel     Sold

"A Good Spot"  was given a Merchandise Award by juror Kyle Ma at the Little Gems Show hosted by the Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes earlier this summer.  This annual, small works exhibition is organized by Plein Air Washington Artists for it's members and always brings in many collectors and art lovers to the Scott Milo Gallery who has graciously hosted this show for many years.

I've posted most of my event paintings from 2023. There are a few exhibition works and then a bunch of random paintings to get on the blog. As I have said before, Daily Paintworks draws from my blog and I use the DP gallery page for my website gallery page. It has all been working smoothly for 10 years or so but you know how the internet can change.....BTW , a shout out again to David and Carol Marine who operate Daily Paintworks. Carol is an amazing artist who has made a good career posting her work online and David is a genius in my opinion for his coding craft.  I hope they keep going for a long time!

Me and Ann on Crystal Mountain
While we are giving kudos, a shout out to my wife, Ann who does book keeping for me and is also helping with a news letter I am hoping to make a monthly report on latest events and workshops. If you are interested in getting my news letter, email  robinweiss@earthlink.net.

Currently, Diane Venti, curator of fine local art and beloved by so many in the local arts community has organized another pop-up art event in West Seattle. Contact her through Alki Arts HERE for more info and a list of artists and available paintings.

"Kingston Side" Edmonds and Beyond plein air painting by Robin Weiss

"Kingston Side"  8x16 oil on panel   $750
Available through the Cole Gallery, Edmonds,  425-697-2787

Almost every little town in the Puget Sound region has a waterfront and a marina, Kingston has that and a ferry terminal that takes you to Edmonds by car or a foot traffic only "Fast Ferry"  to Seattle. I painted my third competition piece on an overcast day for Edmonds and Beyond, a new, annual plein air event hosted by the Cole Gallery in Edmonds.
