I added a color to my palette for this painting, hoping to achieve that inner glow to the light just appearing on a foggy morning. The color was a "modern" Thalo Blue...I think it helped..
After attending a workshop by a Gamblin rep, I learned about modern and classic pigments and how they can be used for different effects. Evidently the particles are much smaller and more uniform in the modern colors allowing for more reflection of light.......I mixed a bit of the Thalo into my usual French Ultramarine...

Thanks David!! Thanks Nina!!
it does look like that very first hint of light in the dawn sky
I love pthalo blue - it seems to be a colour some people hate and I can't understand why, it's luscious!
This is a WOW! Good job
Hi Vivien! Thanks! I love the color too. It is just a powerful color. Very staining. I find it useful in small amounts mixed with other pigments.
Thanks for the Wow!, Gerald!
Beautiful, Robin! I love your winding road paintings.
