"City Bus" Seattle city scenes, urban oil painting

I am posting this painting mainly to get some input on what folks think about it....I haven't decided yet if it is finished. It is often a struggle for me to know when a painting is completed. I have made mistakes and ruined paintings by overworking them before....on the other hand I have given paintings the spark that takes them over the edge of mediocrity by going in one more time with another layer of paint....I like this paining a lot and don't want to lose it....yet I also don't want to wimp out and miss the opportunity to achieve a really great work......The artists dilemma!

This painting has mood and movement and perfectly conveys the low-light misty, splashy, environment we Pacific Northwesterners know oh-so-well. I like it as is. And thank you for sharing your thoughts about knowing when a painting is finished. I admire your self-restraint in taking time to step away, think about it, and ask for input, rather than just impulsively plunging ahead as I so often do-- with ultimate regret.

Ah!...Thank you Sarah! I have learned (the hard way)to set a painting aside when in doubt and give it some resting time....I appreciate your input! Welcome to IPA!

What a treat stumbling upon your blog
Beautiful Seattle city scenes
I never know when a painting is finished and often overwork it.
Usually the first stokes are loose and convey the mood
Please dont change this one
it is terrific
Thanks for sharing

I love the mood, but maybe a tiny extra light on the back tire. But I tend to be too tight, so use your own best instincts.

It's done, don't touch it. I love the blurry motion and lovely dynamic feeling of this one, Robin!!
