"Christmas Eve"

It's been a little tough getting back to my blog posts this week. I have been painting every day so there is a lot of new work to post. I'm going to leave my rest series for a bit while I post the work that has been waiting in the wings.....This painting is a companion piece to "I Will Give You Rest". The combination of the cool moon light hitting the church and the warm light from within created an inviting atmosphere.

"Queen Anne Poppies" oil on panel

I am privileged to announce that I will be an artist showing work at the Directors Gallery on Bainbridge Island. If you live in our area be sure to go down to Winslow for the "First Friday" artwalk and visit the gallery located at 126 Madrone lane.

This change in venue will affect the way I will be selling my work. You can contact me at robinweiss@earthlink.net for more information. At this time paintings will be sold through three galleries that offer my paintings....The Knowles Studio, (see links) The Directors Gallery on Bainbridge Island and "Crow Valley Pottery" on Orcas Island. I will be offering smaller format panel paintings 6x6 and 5x7 for $200.00 from this blog when available. Thanks for your patience as I work out the progression of my career as a full time artist.

This painting was done from a photograph I took up on Queen Anne hill when Annie and I went over for a dinner and picture taking excursion....=]... 8x10 oil on panel sold

I wanted to break up the posts between my Alder series so I am adding this painting of an alley in Bremerton where we were working last week. The snow is beginning to melt , leaving interesting reflections in the slush and puddles.

The Flower Vendor, Pike street market, Seattle

I worked about four more hours on the face of the vendor and I think that will do it. Now I'll set up the painting and live with her awhile, see where I need to make some final adjustments.

Boarded Up

These old fishing cabins in Hansvill will soon be gone , replaced by development that will probably include condominiums. It's nice to record some history before it disapears

12x9 oil on panel, $200.00 SOLD
Saturday we took the train to Portland to view the Rembrandt exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. In this painting Rembrandt paints a self portrait as the apostle Paul. Many of the dutch masters were represented in the show. Interesting to see how many of the paintings had a moral lesson hidden in them through means of symbolism or were biblically based.
Heres the crew who went down, from the left Jim, Leigh, Karen,Claudia, Mike and me. On the train back when we were all wiped out and hoping for sleep they let a group of about 20 ladies having a bachelorette party on our car, still I slept through most of it except for some really loud war whooping or whatever.........
